HOW TO BECOME A COLERAIN TOWNSHIP FIREFIGHTER

• Submit an application. Applications are available at 3251 Springdale Road (fire headquarters).
• In September the training division begins the selection process by giving a Work Keys written examination. A minimum score of fourteen (14) is required to continue.
• Successful candidates than take the departments physical performance evaluation (PPE). This is the modified Combat Challenge©. The course must be completed in less than seven (7) minutes.
• Successful candidates complete a personal history questionnaire and are scheduled for interviews.
• Interviews with department officers are conducted.
• If a candidate is recommended to by the interview board to continue, a criminal background check is conducted through fingerprinting, name and social security number.
• Successful applicants with clean criminal and personal backgrounds will undergo a voice stress analysis polygraph examination.
• Successful candidates will then be given a physical examination by the departments physician.
• Fit testing for SCBA mask will be conducted.
• Begin recruit class.
